this project explored fundamental problems inherent within housing's very nature of multiplicity and repetition, typically resolved as wholes based on simple systems of aggregation.
in creating a mixed-use housing project in the williamsburg neighborhood of brooklyn, i studied densities of businesses and facilities nearby, as well as trajectories presented by major traffic arteries, concern for issues such as zoning guidelines and integrating open space and amenities lacking in the immediate area. these intensities generated a referential index of the city which informs the form of the project.
